About Almost Home Building Inspections
I started working in the construction industry as a summer job in high school. I loved it so much that I went into it full-time when I graduated from school. I was lucky to work with some great contractors in the renovation field that taught me to do the job right the first time and to pay attention to the details. After getting my Journeyman's ticket at 24 I moved to Kamloops to start working on new homes cribbing basement foundations then framing the homes and finishing carpentry. After a couple of years of this, I moved to Canmore Ab where I started a finishing company.
Being a carpenter you never do the same job twice and as the jobs get bigger your skills get better and the options in the field are endless. I bought my first lot and started building for myself. I moved into the basement as soon as the house was weather tight and had water. I worked hands on with all the trades to build the home. I was able to grow as a builder, project manager, and a custom home builder in the Canmore, Banff, and Bears paw areas outside of Calgary. I have loved being a carpenter.
At the end of the day when you are tired and sore and covered in sawdust, you can look at what you have built and go to bed thinking about what you are going to build tomorrow and how to do it.
After 30 + years go by and you slow down and the aches and pains don't go away it was time for a new challenge. Home Inspections. A perfect way to use my experience and love of building to help my clients make a comfortable informed decision on their new home.
